Forging Form:A Dialogue with Masculinity
The Wait of Masculinity

The Wait of Masculinity, 2024, Glass crystals, metal, empty and expired testosterone vials, and light fixture, 3’x18”

The duality of feminity and masculinty is seen in many facets of the domestic sphere. The chandelier, in its soft shape and the elegance of the cascading crystal lends itself to the virtue of feminity. Opposingly, the industrial support and materials, alongside the obvious suppliment of HRT Testosterone vials brings forth this masculine parrallel.
Within this form,I humanize the sculpture by applying these social concepts to the still and lifeless. Being a non-human form, the chandelier feels apolitical and harmless,an object of demure beauty and class. This description further supports another concept of this piece, the luxury of medical transition. Being as privileged as I am, I have (for the most part) been on testosterone for the better part of four years, something that many cannot afford both socially and economically.
